CD Full Form, What is the Full Form of CD ?

The Full Form of CD is Compact Disc.

Compact disc (CD) is a flat & small-rounded recordable device which can store data up to 700mb. However, Compact disc (CD)  has a diameter of 4.75 inches. Therefore, compact disc (CD Full Form) is portable and hence, Compact disc (CD) can be taken anywhere according to needs.

Therefore, Compact Disc (CD) is made from a 1.2 mm thick polycarbonate plastic and weighing about 16 grams. However, on the surface, a thin layer of Aluminium is applied to make it reflective.

Therefore, there are mainly 3 types of Compact Disc, they are :

  1. Standard manufactured CDs 
  2. CD-Rs
  3. CD-RWs


Speeds of Compact Disc (CD)

However, the CD has three different types of speeds they are (52/24/52)

  • Therefore, slowest speed is for burning RW discs
  • And middle speed is for burning R discs
  • Therefore, the fastest speed is for reading or digital transfer to the computer.

  3. Data cannot be changed
  4. Sturdiness
  5. Special capabilities

Therefore the Disadvantages of the CD are:

  1.  Data cannot be changed
  2. Require a burning software
  3. Limited Storage Capacity
  4. Data can be corrupted
